Heather uses recycled glass, usually windows or shelving, to create functional platters and coasters, decorative wall and window panels and sculptures, as well as smaller items such as jewellry and Christmas ornaments. The glass is painted with vitreous glass enamels and then fired in a kiln multiple times. Some of the glass work is sandblasted and further altered by slumping and shaping again with the use of a kiln. Heather is inspired by the landscapes around her Elora studio and home as well as referencing textiles patterning from her interest in textile art. Heather uses scratchboard techniques, stamping and stencilling to create her original drawings on glass. Prices ranges from $10. to $250.
