South African raised artist Sandra Silberman began her ceramics career in Johannesburg in 1993. It all started with pottery lessons at a local community centre, Sandra fell in love with clay and her passion continues nearly 3 decades later. In 1994 she immigrated to Canada, shortly after her husband Gavin joined her in the business. Gavin Silberman, furniture designer and cabinetmaker, brings to Dotti Potts a wealth of technical and design skills.
Drawing inspiration primarily from home décor, fashion and nature, Dotti Potts’ aesthetic is design forward with a timeless quality. Sandra believes that an artist’s work should constantly evolve, but feels grateful that her strong creative spark has provided a lifetime of inspiration for future work.
The Silberman’s produce well-designed, good quality pieces that are designed to be used and enjoyed daily. Durable chip resistant porcelain is their choice of clay. Sandra especially loves texture, & meticulously hand carves & sculpts her wares in a variety of ways to create each signature piece.
Dotti Potts’ is a multi layered pottery where a large variety of products are made. Items include tableware, servingware, fashion jewellery, home decor accessories & custom lighting.
Tableware on offer include 6 distinct, yet equally beautiful, collections aptly named Oatmeal, Ivory, Slate, Midnight, African Modern & Botanical.
Sandra loves to use clay as a canvas, she makes gorgeous porcelain art tiles that are incorporated into making wooden coatracks, jewellery organizers, art blocks, hooks and key racks. They are essentially functional one of a kind art that will last a lifetime.
Their extensive collection of fashion jewellery is fun and has a bohemian stylish feel to the collection.
The Dotti Potts Studio & Gallery is located in Barrie, Ontario.
