Rare Olive is owned and operated by Canadian maker, Nicole Gagnon, who designs and makes wooden jewellery and accessories out of Guelph, ON.
Nicole’s passion for wood stemmed from her roots as her grandfather was carpenter, and her husband a woodworker. They taught Nicole about different wood types and grains. Running this business has provided her with the ability to grow and learn, allowing her to mindfully make products and meaningful connections. Since the woodworking and fashion industries are not commonly seen together—Rare Olive creations are truly rare and unique. It is part of a movement to provide a sustainable aesthetic to people who gravitate towards good design, slow fashion, and supporting local.
For her creations, Nicole hand selects the woods from her local suppliers; always rummaging for the most interesting grains and colours. Many of her wears are designed and made to be reversible with a different type of wood on either side. This bold geometric look is perfect for the eco-conscious trendsetter.
